What is a Certificate of Analysis?

A peptide Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is not a marketing claim.

A peptide COA is a batch-specific document produced by an accredited laboratory that records the analytical test results for a specific batch or lot of compound. It tells you exactly what was tested, how it was tested, and what the results showed.

For researchers, it is the single most important piece of documentation that comes with a peptide supply. Without it, you have no verified basis for the purity or identity of what you are working with, which may limit the ability to verify material quality and traceability.

At Verified Peptides, every product that ships to a verified account holder comes with a full peptide lab testing report. CoA documentation is provided with all eligible research-use-only orders supplied by Verified Peptides.

What a Verified Peptides COA Includes

All COAs are not the same.

All purity reports for Verified Peptides peptides are batch-specific, meaning that the information contained on those certificates was obtained via analysis of the specific batch of product you purchase.

Here is what every Verified Peptides peptide COA contains:

Purity Percentage

  • HPLC purity value presented in percentages in relation to the main compound compared to the total peak area
  • Lowest accepted value: ≥98%
  • If batches do not comply with the set quality parameters, then they are not distributed.
  • Purity value on your peptide purity certificate corresponds to the real value for your specific batch, not just the catalogue minimum.

Batch Number

  • Each batch has a different lot number attached to it.
  • Lot number is also included in the product label, order confirmation, and CoA.
  • It allows for tracing from production all the way up to delivery.
  • Lot numbers can be validated independently via the Verified Peptides CoA validation page.

Testing Method

  • HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) – main technique for purity quantification
  • Mass Spectrometry (MS) – verifies molecular weight and sequence of amino acids
  • Independent laboratory reference – name and details about third-party laboratory which performed the testing
  • Testing is performed in accredited independent analytical laboratories.

Additional Documentation

  • Synthesis or manufacture date
  • Recommended storage conditions specific to that compound
  • Expiry or stability reference
  • Packaging specifications applied to that lot

How to Read a Peptide COA?

If you have never read a peptide lab testing report, here are the key details to review:

  • Start with batch numbers – ensure that the batch number on the CoA matches the batch number on the vial label.
  • Look at the purity value – it is typically given as a percentage, such as “98.6%”. The rest are trace synthesis by-products that do not exceed the acceptable limit.
  • Consider the testing method – the Certificate of Analysis will indicate the method used, such as HPLC, MS, or a combination of both.
  • Look at the location of the tests – a reliable certification should mention the name of the independent lab that performed the test. On all our CoAs, there is mention of the name of the certified third-party laboratory.
  • Storage conditions – These may vary from compound to compound. They are provided in the COA so you should store your peptides accordingly.

Follow these precisely to maintain compound integrity in your facility.

How to Access Your Verified Peptides COA

Your peptide purity report can be obtained through various means such as:

  • Through your account portal – all Certificates of Analysis are available for download after confirming your order.
  • Through product pages – certificates of analysis for some selected products are provided on their individual product pages under the research catalogue
  • Through CoA verification page – all of our certificates of analysis can be independently verified by entering the batch number at www.Verified Peptides.com.au/verify
  • On request – certificate of analysis can be sent out to you on request if you have a validated account from a previous order.

If you require CoA documentation in any specific format, please do not hesitate to contact our support team.
